Ever dreamed of opening your own pizzeria? The two amateur pizza-makers at Saraghina, Edoardo Mantelli and Massimiliano Nanni, had a passion for pizza, but no expertise. Mantelli asked friend and pizza-master Michele Iuliano (of Luzzo’s) to teach him the ways. And he learned exceptionally well. The result is something special: crisp but soft dough covered in fresh tomato sauces and oozing mozzarella (not to mention the uber-cool restaurant space). White-washed walls, over-sized posters, and funky glass collections fill the ramshackle building’s indoor space.

What to Get: Pizza of course. Check out the full menu here.

Fun Fact: Mantelli co-owns the clothing brand Tocca.

The Pizza Man’s Hours: The pizza guy doesn’t arrive until noon on the weekends. But Saraghina serves a mean French Toast for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays if you get there early (the restaurant opens at 10 am on the weekends though the website says that it opens at 12 pm). The restaurant is open Monday – Sunday 6 pm – 11 pm and for breakfast and lunch 10 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday.

Where: 435 Halsey St. Take the A/C to Utica Ave and walk.
