Viracocha, just down Valencia from Spork, may well be the closest thing San Francisco has to a cabaret. The performance space is in the basement of a store of the same name – in fact walking through the store, which exclusively sells little treasures and antiques, including beautiful old typewriters, is almost an event in itself.
Now celebrating its 10th Anniversary, SF Sketchfest has not-so-quietly become San Francisco’s premier presenter of comedy. Each year, Sketchfest puts on a mix of stand-up, improv, sketches, tributes, screenings and anything in between that might get a laugh. There’s no true festival home, and events take place at comedy venues throughout the city, including the Punchline, Cobb’s and The Eureka Theatre, which is a few blocks from Comstock Saloon.
