To do sit-down Mexican food in San Francisco that costs, say, more than $10 for an entree, the food really better be good. At Nopalito the food is more than just good. It’s the kind of restaurant that you tell your friends about. It has the refined quality of fine dining with the flavors of [...]
Nights out at Mini Bar Sf always feel like an event. True to its namesake, it’s tiny. Like really tiny, the kind of place where it’s hard not to talk to your fellow drinkers. And it’s rare that the place isn’t full of locals, including the art on the walls, which is usually a showcase [...]
You don’t need us to tell you that are a lot of great Mexican restaurants in San Francisco, but New Mexican food is another story, and The Green Chile in NoPa is probably the city’s best. The selection is usually comedy or campy gore or, really, any movie that seems right for a club, like the recent screenings of Inception and Tron (the original).
Just when we thought San Francisco didn’t need another gourmet, thin-crust pizza place, in comes Ragazza, which opened back in October on Divisadero and serves up seasonal deliciousness. There are several pizzas to choose from, and you’ll want to try them all. The Wild Nettles with preserved lemon, red onion and provolone was salty, sweet, earthy and tart all in one; while the Moto with tomato, chilies, mushrooms and sausage was savory and spicy.
The first Saturday of the month (read: the first Saturday after Thanksgiving) Madrone Lounge, just up Divisadero from Ragazza, plays host to the ultimate DJ battle: Prince vs. Michael. It’s the dance party to end all dance parties, as the Artist Formerly Known As takes on the King of Pop.
