Every neighborhood needs a great breakfast place, and Plow is without a doubt Potrero Hill’s. Opened by a husband and wife, the menu is simple and rootsy but tasty. The usual breakfast suspects are here, but all prepared to a foodie’s specifications. The popular fried egg sandwich comes with Grafton cheddar on an Acme bun smothered in aioli, while lemon and ricotta give the pancakes a welcome zing. On weekends, the buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy are added to the menu, and we humbly request it become a daily regular.
Nestled in the Marin Headlands, a mere 20 minutes from the heart of San Francisco, is the exquisite Tennessee Valley trailhead, at its simplest a 3 mile there and back, where the ‘there’ is a stunning beach. The beach is actually a cove, surrounded by the sheer rock drops of the Headlands, which is to say it’s excessively beautiful and beautifully accessible.
Pick up sandwiches at Angelina’s then stroll along the scenic Coastal Trail to Lands End Labyrinth. Enjoy lunch and the view, then head back or walk up the hill to the Legion of Honor for a little culture. Don’t worry about getting lost or bumping into David Bowie, the Labyrinth was created in 2004 by Eduardo Aquilera as a place for “peace, love and enlightenment.”
